Senior Support Worker – Residential Children’s Home
Location: Horsham (rural setting)
Hours: 40 hours per week on a shift-based rota (including evenings and weekends). Options include 3 long days or 5 shorter days.
Salary: £34,000 – £38,000
Contract: Full-time, permanent
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our residential children’s home, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape a stable, nurturing, and child-focused environment where young people can grow and succeed.
About the Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will work closely with the management team to ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted standards, safeguarding requirements, and organisational values. You will play a key role in leading the team, maintaining high standards of care, and supporting the ongoing development of the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall running and development of the home
- Lead, mentor, and motivate staff to deliver high-quality, therapeutic care
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding policies, and statutory requirements
- Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
- Promote a positive and resilient culture focused on achieving the best outcomes for children
- Assist with rota planning, staff supervision, and performance management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, professionals, and partner agencies
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes, and service improvements
Requirements
- Experience in a residential children’s home, ideally in a senior or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential
- Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification is desirable, or willingness to work towards it
- Confident decision-maker with strong leadership and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence due to the rural location
