Key Responsibilities

·         To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.

·         Give guidance and support to all Residential Workers.

·         Be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff.

·         Raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.

Senior Support Worker Role

  • Planning, managing and leading shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.

  • Ensuring the Care Planning documents for each child is always followed and adhered to.

  • Promoting education and ensuring that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.

  • Dealing with challenging behaviour (verbally abusive, possibly threatening behaviour)

  • Being a positive role model at all times and maintaining a consistency of approach

  • Dealing with constantly changing guidelines, procedures etc, that are being presented by our Governing Body

  • Developing a functional approach in young people who are likely to have been rejected or have serious issues in coming to terms with their behaviour

  • Supporting the young people to have equal opportunities to develop their independence & social skills in preparation for adult life.

  • Liaising with parents, carers, other 3rd parties and the staff team.

  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.

About

Shifts are made up of earlies, lates and some long days on a rota basis. Some shifts will include sleep ins.

What we need from you?

  • Should have over 2 years of experience working with young people in a residential setting or similar.

  • An NVQ3 or above in social care or equivalent is essential.

  • An understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Child Protection legislation

  • The ability to form professional and positive relationships.

  • Good physical health and high level of emotional resilience

  • Experience and understanding in dealing with challenging situations.
