An opportunity to join a lovely, well-established home with a strong team and a positive environment.
This is a role for someone who understands that progress isn’t always straightforward. Building trust takes time, consistency and patience, but the impact you can have can be lasting.
We are looking for a caring, energetic and proactive Residential Support Worker to join a beautiful six-bed children’s home providing care for children with EBD and complex needs.
Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, this is a settled home where the children are supported by a strong, experienced staff team. The environment is positive and nurturing, and while there can be challenges along the way, incidents are relatively few. The focus is on providing consistency, building relationships and helping the children enjoy their childhood while developing confidence and independence.
The children have a great range of interests and enjoy getting out and about. Activities include roller skating, swimming, arcades, trips to the beach, fishing, bike rides, football and model aeroplanes. They also enjoy gaming and spending time with their friends.
You’ll be joining a team of nine full-time staff, supported by a bank team, who work together to provide a consistent and supportive environment. We are keen to welcome someone with plenty of energy, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in making a difference. You’ll need to be nurturing and resilient, outgoing and proactive, and someone who is happy to get involved, bring ideas and make everyday life enjoyable for the children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day to day care and support to children with EBD and complex needs.
- Building trusting relationships and offering consistent, nurturing support.
- Following individual care plans and supporting each child’s individual needs.
- Supporting emotional regulation and responding calmly and positively to challenging situations.
- Getting involved in activities, outings and hobbies, encouraging the children to try new things.
- Supporting education, social development and independence.
- Maintaining accurate records and working closely with colleagues and other professionals.
- Contributing to a safe, stable and positive home environment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in people who genuinely enjoy working with children and want to be part of a team where they can make a difference.
You’ll ideally have previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or complex needs. However, just as important is your attitude, personality and willingness to learn.
You’ll be someone who is:
- Warm, caring and naturally nurturing.
- Energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic.
- Resilient and able to remain calm when things are challenging.
- Proactive, positive and happy to get involved.
- A good team player who is supportive of colleagues.
- Committed to providing consistent, high-quality care.
A relevant childcare qualification would be an advantage, but isn’t essential for the right person.
Working Pattern
A three-week rolling rota, with shifts starting at 7:45am and finishing at 10:30pm. There may be occasions when you need to stay a little later to ensure the children are settled for the night.
- Week 1: Tuesday, Friday and Sunday
- Week 2: Wednesday and Saturday
- Week 3: Monday and Thursday
What We Offer
- Highly competitive salary.
- Full induction and introductory programme.
- Fully funded training and qualifications.
- Enhanced pay scales recognising qualifications and experience.
- Enhanced company maternity and paternity pay.
- Free meals.
- Employee benefits programme.
- Life assurance.
- 28 days’ annual leave.
If you’re looking for a role where you can become part of a close-knit team, build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people, we’d love to hear from you.
