Ready to lead with purpose and create lasting change?

This is an opportunity to lead a high-quality children’s residential home currently rated Outstanding,  where your leadership genuinely transforms young lives. If you are an experienced Registered Manager or a confident Deputy Manager ready to step up, this role offers the chance to lead a 6-bed EBD children’s home near Alton.

About the Home & Organisation

You will be joining a values-driven residential childcare provider, known for high standards, strong culture and truly child-centred practice.

The home supports up to 6 young people aged 11–18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) who may have experienced trauma, attachment disruption or instability. The focus is on providing a safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment, centred on stability, healing and positive progression — whether that means reunification, foster care or preparation for independence.

You will be stepping into:

  • A fully staffed, stable home with a capable Deputy Manager
  • A skilled staff team.
  • Robust systems already in place, including compliance dashboards and quality assurance frameworks

This structure allows you to focus on leadership, quality, culture and outcomes, rather than constant firefighting.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will lead a calm, therapeutic and resilient home environment, ensuring young people feel safe, seen and supported, while driving continuous improvement and excellent outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the home in full compliance with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements
  • Provide strong, visible and emotionally intelligent leadership that sets the culture of the home
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing and inspiring therapeutic environment
  • Champion the needs, voices and rights of young people
  • Lead, mentor and develop staff through supervision, coaching, reflective practice and QCF Level 3 support
  • Oversee care planning, risk management, placement stability, staffing, budgets and operational development
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and overall compliance
  • Work collaboratively with local authorities, commissioners and multi-agency partners
  • Drive continuous improvement with the ambition to achieve and sustain Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
  • Promote independence, emotional growth and life skills for young people

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
(or Deputy Managers actively working towards Level 5 with a clear completion plan will be considered)
  • Significant experience in children’s residential care (EBD or similar), with strong safeguarding knowledge
  • Ability to meet Ofsted Registered Manager suitability requirements
  • Experience supporting children with trauma, EBD or complex emotional needs, including Ofsted inspections
  • Knowledge of therapeutic, trauma-informed or attachment-focused approaches

Personal Attributes We Value:

  • You are a calm, confident and values-led leader who stays steady under pressure and always puts children first.
  • Genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Calm, reflective and emotionally intelligent leadership style
  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence to lead, with humility to reflect and learn
  • Commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way

Why Join?

  • Competitive salary: £55,000 – £60,000 per annum
  • Performance bonuses linked to Ofsted outcomes and occupancy
  • Strong, experienced leadership and governance support
  • Opportunity to shape and develop a service with real influence
  • Clear ambition to achieve and maintain Outstanding Ofsted standards
  • Ongoing professional development, career progression and a genuine commitment to work–life balance
  • A stable, skilled staff team already in place
