Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Support Worker to join our team supporting young people in a residential setting. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the emotional, social, and educational development of children and young people aged between [Aged 8 –18].

Whether you’re looking for a stable full-time role or seeking more flexible opportunities to work around existing commitments, we also have flexible support worker roles available in children’s homes throughout the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care and support for children and young people in line with their individual care plans
  • Build trusting, positive relationships with children, promoting their self-esteem and independence
  • Support with daily routines including getting ready for school, meal preparation, and bedtime routines
  • Work proactively with colleagues, external professionals, and families to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • Encourage participation in education, leisure activities, and life skills development
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour and incidents, following established policies and behaviour management techniques
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings
  • Work flexibly to cover a mixture of early and late shifts, including weekends and holidays as part of a rota

Requirements:

  • Experience working with a professional care setting within the UK
  • Experience in managing and deescalating challenging behaviours
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a positive difference in their lives
  • Must be able to work mixed shift patterns, including early mornings and late evenings
