A fantastic opportunity for Senior carers or experienced care professional looking to progress their career into a senior position. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play an important role in leading the team, supporting the day-to-day running of the service and helping the people we support achieve greater independence and live the life they choose.

You’ll have the opportunity to build on your existing experience, develop your leadership skills and take on increased responsibility, with ongoing training and career development available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the staff team during shifts, ensuring the service runs safely, effectively and to a high standard.
  • Promote person-centred support that respects dignity, choice, rights and independence.
  • Lead by example, creating a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Support colleagues with day-to-day guidance, induction, training and development.
  • Communicate effectively with management, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Identify and appropriately report safeguarding concerns, incidents and risks.
  • Coordinate shift plans, including handovers, appointments, activities, support plans and daily tasks.
  • Support the safe management, administration and auditing of medication.
  • Ensure support plans, risk assessments, records and documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Support audits and quality monitoring across the service.
  • Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act, including consent, capacity, restrictions and best-interest decisions.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, infection control and regulatory compliance.
  • Take responsibility for decision-making in the absence of management, always acting in the best interests of the people we support.
  • Identify training and development needs and work closely with management to support continuous improvement.

Essential

  • Experience working within health and social care, supported living or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience in a senior, supervisory or experienced support worker role.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred support and safeguarding.
  • Good communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting adults with learning disabilities to achieve greater independence.
  • Motivation to develop your career and take on additional responsibility.

Desirable

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous Senior Support Worker or Team Leader experience.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and medication management.
  • Experience supporting staff development, audits and care documentation.
