We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our children’s residential home. This role is crucial in ensuring the home provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people with complex needs, emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD), and/or learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise staff to maintain high-quality care and a supportive team environment.

  • Ensure the home delivers personalized care plans, supporting the well-being, development, and progress of young people.

  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed to protect children and young people.

  • Assist with recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff members.

  • Conduct regular staff supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings to drive continuous improvement.

  • Manage rota planning to ensure adequate staffing levels while maintaining cost efficiency.

  • Support in handling incident management, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention when necessary.

  • Work closely with social workers, local authorities, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for young people.

  • Participate in on-call duties and step up in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). A Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.

  • At least 2 years of experience working in a children's residential setting, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, Ofsted standards, and children’s home regulations.

  • Experience in supporting young people with EBD, trauma, or learning disabilities.

  • Ability to manage and motivate a team, providing guidance and support.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.

  • A full UK driving license is desirable.
